Next year she'll be in the parade at the elementary school...it makes me a bit sad to think about it.  We've had such a great experience with the daycare at my work....it's been such a blessing to have such loving care available for her when I was working.

Family Pumpkin Carving

On the 30th, we went to the annual pumpkin carving party for Cole's family.  His Aunt Kathy and Uncle Rex are kind enough to host us every year.  We usually have soup and treats, and the cousins get to hang out and carve...

The Harvest Party and the Harry Potter Experience

We continued our tradition of having a "Harvest Party" this year.  We invited the neighborhood over to help us carve 100 pumpkins and place them in the yard for "The Unorthodox Halloween Experience".  It was a really fun party, if you didn't come you missed out, big time.

And a BIG thanks to all those who came and helped out!

We had kids of all ages come with their parents.  We were super excited that even the teenagers in the neighborhood came before they went off to their own parties.

We provided a hot dog dinner, and LOTS of treats.  Most people took us up on the treats, but not dinner.

We had a lovely party night.

As the party was winding down I took Kyle, Talia, Alec, and Alec's friend Kyler up to the Harry Potter House.  This is a house WAYYYYY up the hill above us, that does a Harry Potter type experience.  Usually they do it on Halloween, but notices were sent around that they were doing it early this year.  Alec, especially wanted to go see it (he's extremely into Harry Potter right now), so we made an effort to get him up there to see it.

Alec (dressed as Harry Potter) of course got Griffindor...not that I have a picture of him as more than a blur.  I swear, the child can't even hold still for 1/15 of a second, which was what I had my f stop set to...

Then we found out what the kids' Patronus's were...

We were on a time limit to get Kyler home, so we didn't have time to play Quidditch (on a zip line), but we had a good time. The actors all did a great job ( I especially enjoyed Lockheart going around giving autographed pictures, and Hagrid and mini Hagrid)....

Our Very Own Pumpkin Patch

We planted four pumpkin plants on the side of our house this year.  Cole has been composting the area, so we can put in a real garden.  We were excited to have about 10 pumpkins fertilize and grow.  We also had a couple of "self starters" in our front flowerbed (we assume from seeds that came from last year's Harvest Party) that gave us 2 small, but perfect pumpkins.  It was fun to let the kids pick their pumpkins from our very own patch...

Cole scored each of the kids' names into a pumpkin when they were still little...the kids enjoyed watching their "own" pumpkins grow through the summer.

Meet Lily

From October 2011

After losing Cosette, we really didn't plan on getting a new kitten so soon.  However, Indy made it clear he was lonely and needed a friend.  Cole really wanted a black cat, so he started perusing ads on KSL, and found some cute kittens.  We headed out to look at them, and Lily was the only one who calmed down and started warming up to us.

She really liked the humans, but at first, she did not want ANYTHING to do with Indy.  She finally stopped hissing at him, and the other day, I caught them curled up together with Alec while he was asleep.  She is so sweet, we are really glad to have her be part of our family!

Diablo's Dome

This year, one of Cole's former co-workers connected him to some people running a haunted house out in Herriman.  He rented them quite a few of his skulls and a projector, and he sold them Charr.  They also commissioned him to build them a "monster" specific to their needs.  Of course, we had to drive all the way out there and check it out....

It was a long drive in Rush Hour traffic.  We arrived, went through the haunted house (which was pretty good) and then we were all starving.  We stopped for dinner, and they lost Cole's and my orders, so it took forever.  We didn't head home until late, and all the kids were wiped out.
