A Fun Holiday!

After sleeping in a bit Monday morning, we were ready for an adventure. I've really wanted to go to IKEA, so I talked Cole into going there first. I found everything I wanted, and some things that I decided I needed as well...(more on that in a different post).

Next, we headed to the Zoo. Cole really wanted to see the "Nature's Nightmares" exhibit(hmm, I wonder why ;))

The Vultures were cool

These bats were out in the open...ewwwww

I was really impressed with my camera, because the rules of the exhibit prohibited flash photography...I had to boost the ISO a bit, but the images were great. So great, I left the flash off the rest of the day...

We got to see Zuri...

I love the giraffe's!!!!

The wolves came right up to the fence, it was really cool since they're normally pretty elusive!

Even knowing that there is a boundary in between, it made me a little anxious to see the tiger's eyeing me from 15 feet away...they are such breathtakingly beautiful animals, the camera didn't do them justice today.

Photo ops!

The coolest thing happened in the gorilla house. The two new gorilla's are still getting used to each other, and were inside in their separate indoor enclosures. One of them came RIGHT up to the glass where we were standing...looking right into my children's eyes. My eyes. Of course, we were crowded out of the way pretty quickly, but it was cool.

We ended our night by stopping by Boston's in Layton for some yummy dinner...It was really good. It was a fun day, I enjoyed being able to spend it with my family.

That sounds like such a fun day spent as a family. We haven't done the zoo this year, looks and sounds like it was a fun time.
