Our Very Own Pumpkin Patch

We planted four pumpkin plants on the side of our house this year.  Cole has been composting the area, so we can put in a real garden.  We were excited to have about 10 pumpkins fertilize and grow.  We also had a couple of "self starters" in our front flowerbed (we assume from seeds that came from last year's Harvest Party) that gave us 2 small, but perfect pumpkins.  It was fun to let the kids pick their pumpkins from our very own patch...

Cole scored each of the kids' names into a pumpkin when they were still little...the kids enjoyed watching their "own" pumpkins grow through the summer.

Meet Lily

From October 2011

After losing Cosette, we really didn't plan on getting a new kitten so soon.  However, Indy made it clear he was lonely and needed a friend.  Cole really wanted a black cat, so he started perusing ads on KSL, and found some cute kittens.  We headed out to look at them, and Lily was the only one who calmed down and started warming up to us.

She really liked the humans, but at first, she did not want ANYTHING to do with Indy.  She finally stopped hissing at him, and the other day, I caught them curled up together with Alec while he was asleep.  She is so sweet, we are really glad to have her be part of our family!

Diablo's Dome

This year, one of Cole's former co-workers connected him to some people running a haunted house out in Herriman.  He rented them quite a few of his skulls and a projector, and he sold them Charr.  They also commissioned him to build them a "monster" specific to their needs.  Of course, we had to drive all the way out there and check it out....

It was a long drive in Rush Hour traffic.  We arrived, went through the haunted house (which was pretty good) and then we were all starving.  We stopped for dinner, and they lost Cole's and my orders, so it took forever.  We didn't head home until late, and all the kids were wiped out.

Thanks Uncle Tom!

After Cole purchased 50+ pumpkins last year for our 1st Annual Harvest Party, it got his family thinking.  His Uncle Tom decided to plant a whole field of pumpkins, so Cole wouldn't have to buy as many.  Despite the late start to the season, the pumpkins still did very well...

We got over 100 for our carving party!

Indy was so excited....

The Last of Frightmares

We headed out to Lagoon for our last night of Frightmares.  We knew with everything going on, we'd be too busy to get back before the end.  We arrived right as they opened, and decided to hit some rides first...

From October 2011

The boys and I rode the Samauri twice without even getting off...usually the wait is at least a half an hour.

Then we rode on the Rocket...first Blast Off, then Re-Entry....

We let the boys go do their own thing (I wanted to hang with my sweetheart), and we took Talia through Psyco Dave's Junkyard.  Inside is a whole bunch of old stuff that was once part of Lagoon's attractions...made scary of course!

Kyle's Fall Concert

Kyle had his first choir concert this week.  I was so proud of him, he did such a great job!!!

He has the same teacher I had for choir in junior high...Ms Reeves.  She is extremely talented, she can play anything on the piano and choreographs as well.  It was fun to see her work from a parent's perspective...

Although a good portion of the 7th grade girls giggled through the entire performance (it irritated me), Kyle did a spectacular job.

The 3 of us had matching shirts.  I made a design, and we printed it onto transfer paper.  I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.

What a great cause, so close to my heart.  I am excited to make this an annual event with my daughter!

Date Night

Cole and I had planned to go to Frightmares by ourselves tonight...but the weather did not cooperate.  So, I dragged him to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...part 2.  He hadn't seen it yet, and I wanted to see it again on the big screen.
From October 2011

After the movie, we enjoyed dinner at the Olive Garden.  Yummy!
I love spending time with my sweetheart..and I love that Kyle's old enough that we can have him babysit if we want to...

Life in Snapshots

Only in my garage...
From September 2011

Ususally at a Lagoon, I take the boys on the rides, and Cole(who gets motion sick after too many big rides) takes Talia around.  However, this day at Frightmares, Cole took the boys to the Haunted Houses, and I got to spend time with Talia...
