Grandma is afraid of heights.  It just goes to show, having your grandkids there will give you courage...even if you keep your eyes closed the whole time!!!!

Then, everyone but me went on Rattlesnake Rapids...

It was a fun night, it wasn't busy, so we walked on most the rides.  When we went to leave, Cole asked me if I still had the keys...he had given them to me when they rode Rattlesnake Rapids.  I told him no, I gave them back after they got off.  We searched our pockets...no keys.  Somewhere in the transfer, we dropped them.  Luckily, some honest person turned them in...and we ended our night on a positive note after a little bit of panic.  Thank you, whoever turned in our keys!!!

Pool Tricks

The kids love working on their diving "tricks"...

Talia and Hunter were "sharing" Brenda's dog Rex..

It was really cute, they were both holding him and passing him back and forth, and the dog was totally  just relaxing into it.  So cute!

Father's Day

I have the best husband in the entire universe.  He also happens to be a terrific father to our 3 children.

Father's Day, he woke early (as usual, my sweetheart is a morning person).  I slept in a little.  Ok, a lot (I forgot to set my alarm).  We didn't have gifts for him, as he is ordering himself some Halloween lighting from his brother, but we had a couple of cards for him.  I had planned to take him out for breakfast at Golden Corrall, but by the time I got myself together, it was nearly lunchtime.  The line at Golden Corrall was longer than we had the patience to wait for, so we decided to look for somewhere else to eat.  As we were driving by Outback (Cole's favorite), we noticed a sign saying they were open early for Father's day, and we were thrilled.

All the kids ate, and ate happily.

This is relatively new for us, so it made us really happy.  After lunch, we went to see Cole's Dad and give him his gift.  Van was happy with his gift, but more happy with seeing the kids.  He just had to go pick some bleeding hearts (flowers) to show my little flower boss...

She just recently learned how to curl her tongue, so she insisted I take a picture.

After we saw my in-laws, we went home, had a little nap, and later headed over to my parent's for our "rained out" barbeque.  We couldn't have it outdoors like we'd planned, but we had it indoors and everything was really nice.

It was a really nice day, and I'm very blessed to be married to such a wonderful husband and father.

Hike to Waterfall Canyon

A couple of weeks ago, the cub scouts were hiking to Waterfall canyon.  I haven't hiked that since I was in High School (and at the time, I thought it was going to kill me :)), and since I've been working to get myself into better physical condition this summer, I really wanted to go along.  We headed out at 9 am on the 15th...

The weather was perfect.  Sunny, warm but not hot...

From June 2011

With all the snow/rain this year, it was a really wet hike...most of it was near or in the creek bed....

( I was surprised I wasn't more red at this point...I was pretty hot and sweaty.  Alec, on the other hand, took off straight for the top and didn't look back...he kicked my butt!)

We made it!

It felt great...and even better knowing I'm in pretty good condition.  It was a good hike, but I never felt like I couldn't make it.

Alec got to the top...and he got a little nervous when I wasn't right behind him.  He was headed down to find me...

and after that, he didn't want to leave my side.

Someday, I want to hike this peak...

From June 2011

It was really fun, and I'd really like to go again this summer.  Unfortunately, it's not a hike my sweet 4 year old could do, so we'll see if we're able to get back there.

Flower Boss

Talia is at such a fun age.  She is learning so much, and progressing so fast...and she's watching everything I do.  Unfortunatley, that also means she's being a little bit bossy to the boys...and thinking that she's the boss.  We've had to nip that in the bud.  Sometimes I have to remind her...

Me- some kind of instructions to the boys.
Talia- verbatim repeating of instructions in a stern voice.
Me - Talia, who's the boss?
Talia - Mommy's the boss!
Me- So that means you have to stop bossing the boys.
Talia - (pouting face).

Talia really wants to be the boss of something, and she LOVES flowers.  Cole decided to make her the flower boss.  He let her pick out everything we planted this year and help with the planting, and she has LOVED it.  My mother in law decided to encourage this, and got Talia her own child size tools, gloves, and a tote to carry them in, along with seeds.  She was soooooooooooooo excited to plant them!

Now, whenever Talia starts to get bossy, I ask her what she's the boss of.  She always tells me "I'm the Flower Boss!" and she calms down.

She's really got a knack for this gardening thing, and if she continues to enjoy it, I'm putting her in charge of our flowerbeds from now on.
