We had a slow start on Wednesday morning. Cole was at work, and the kids and I decided to go to Bearizona, a drive through wildlife park.
It was really neat. They had different animals in outdoor areas. The only instructions were that we had to keep our windows closed in the wolf area and in the bear area. The wolves managed to hide from us, but we got to see a lot of other neat animals...
A baby white bison (I think)
Bison...both regular and white
The bears were amazing. There were 12 or 13 bears roaming this area, they were so much fun to watch! The kids were loving every minute of it. Some of the bears were just a few feet away from our car...
(I thought it was funny he was asleep with his leg up a tree)
All these pictures were taken through the glass, and my windows weren't perfectly clean, so I was really impressed with both my camera and my improved photographic abilities.
After we drove around the park, we went to the "baby animal" zoo. The kids insisted I take this shot of the Ravens all gathered up in the sky...
The zoo enclosures had various stages of weaned baby animals. We saw wolf cubs..
These year old bear cubs were fun to watch...
We went to the bird show.
It was ok. It really only had about 4 trained birds in it, so I wasn't terribly impressed.
They were really cool to watch though...
After the bird show, we explored the rest of the zoo.
Racoons...
More bears...
These two were almost 2 years old...and this one would "smile" on cue when one of the park guides asked him too...it was pretty cool.
Bobcat
There were also fox, lynx, and a petting zoo with goats, chickens, and pigs. It was a really fun few hours.
We got back and Cole was home. Some of the people he worked with told us there was a duck pond behind where we were staying, so we grabbed some bread and decided to take a little walk...
We couldn't find it, and then a thunderstorm started to move in, so we headed back...
The kids were disappointed that we didn't get to swim because of the lightening risk, but overall we had an amazing day.
